About this Role

Job Summary

Join our customer's team as a Video Data Reviewer, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required; your domain knowledge is what matters.

Key Responsibilities

Review and refine model-generated video annotations to ensure accuracy and precision in describing hand movements and object interactions. Validate and correct action timing, ensuring boundaries align with the start and end of each labeled activity. Assess and edit captions for atomicity, confirming each label describes a single, independent action. Verify correct identification of left versus right hand usage in all annotated segments. Flag low-quality, ambiguous, or incomplete labels for rework based on project standards. Maintain consistent labeling quality by adhering to established annotation rubrics and structured review pipelines. Provide actionable feedback to help enhance annotation models, and collaborate with team leads to resolve edge cases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Keen visual discrimination skills and high attention to detail, especially when analyzing repetitive video content. Ability to maintain focus and deliver reliable quality throughout long video review sessions. Comfort with web-based annotation tools and time-coded video platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear and concise captioning and feedback. Demonstrated process adherence and willingness to follow detailed guidelines and incorporate prompt feedback. Reliable high-speed internet connection and a computer capable of smooth video playback. Ability to work productively and autonomously while meeting daily throughput and quality targets.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in video annotation, labeling, transcription, or content moderation roles. Familiarity with annotation software such as CVAT, Labelbox, Scale, V7, or Encord. Background in fields requiring precise observation of human movement (e.g., occupational therapy, kinesiology, sign language interpretation, sports analysis).

Compensation Structure

Compensation is output-based; experts are paid per recorded video that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete work may vary depending on the expert's experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply: videos must be at a specific length defined by the project, and experts must submit a minimum of 10 to 15 hours of video per week.

Start Timeline & Availability

We typically fill roles within 48 hours, so we're looking for teammates who are ready to jump in. If selected, we'd love for you to start your first task as soon as you move forward with your application. The expectation is to begin within ~24 hours of completing onboarding.

Equipment Requirements

Tasks for this project must be performed from a PC or notebook computer. Experts will record their screen and/or workflow while completing tasks on their computer. Please ensure your device meets the technical specifications outlined during onboarding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the others?

Global Access. Micro1 is more open to international applicants (outside the US/UK) than DataAnnotation or Outlier.

What is the catch?

Privacy. Micro1 projects often require you to install time-tracking software that takes screenshots of your desktop while you work to ensure you are actually working. If you are uncomfortable with monitoring software, this might not be for you.

What does the work actually look like?

It is practical, hands-on data work. You might be recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. The tasks are designed to be short and distinct—typically 5-60 minutes per task.

How flexible is the schedule?

Extremely. This is true "log in and work" flexibility. You can usually work for 20 minutes or 4 hours depending on your availability. There are rarely minimum hour requirements, making it ideal for side income.

Is there an interview?

Usually, no. Hiring for these roles is almost entirely based on passing an automated assessment or "qualification" task. If you pass the test, you get access to the work.

What is the interview like?

You will likely be screened by "Zara", an AI recruiter. Treat this like a real video interview—speak clearly, ensure you have good lighting, and be ready to answer technical questions verbally, as the transcript is reviewed by human managers.
