About this Role

Job Summary

Join our customer's team as a LibrePCB Expert and contribute your advanced electronic design skills to innovative PCB projects. We seek experienced professionals who excel at realizing complete electronic designs in LibrePCB—from schematic capture to manufacturing files—while thoughtfully articulating their engineering decisions. Your expertise will shape how AI learns the real-world nuances of professional PCB design, making your workflow and insights invaluable.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end electronic design process within LibrePCB, from initial schematic creation through to final PCB manufacturing outputs. Document and articulate design strategies, electrical reasoning, and layout decisions to guide AI development. Create, manage, and organize component libraries and footprints, ensuring accuracy and consistency across projects. Define and apply PCB layout strategies, including efficient component placement and trace routing. Conduct design rule checks (DRC), verification, and troubleshooting for optimized circuit performance and manufacturability. Prepare comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including Gerber and drill files, and liaise with production as needed. Collaborate remotely with the customer’s team, maintaining clear and professional written and verbal communication throughout all project phases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Proven, hands-on expertise in LibrePCB, demonstrated by multiple, full-cycle electronic design projects. Strong grasp of electronic design automation tools and printed circuit board (PCB) workflows. Extensive experience in schematic capture, component selection, footprint assignment, and PCB layout within LibrePCB. Proficiency in managing design libraries, organizing project assets, and maintaining documentation standards. Thorough understanding of PCB manufacturing processes and output requirements (Gerber, drill files, etc.). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly explain engineering decisions and workflows. High attention to detail, critical thinking, and a passion for sharing domain expertise in a structured, articulate manner.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience mentoring or training others on EDA tools and PCB design best practices. Background in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams or contributing to AI/ML data collection projects. Published resources, tutorials, or open-source contributions in the PCB design community.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the others?

Global Access. Micro1 is more open to international applicants (outside the US/UK) than DataAnnotation or Outlier.

What is the catch?

Privacy. Micro1 projects often require you to install time-tracking software that takes screenshots of your desktop while you work to ensure you are actually working. If you are uncomfortable with monitoring software, this might not be for you.

What does the work actually look like?

It is practical, hands-on data work. You might be recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. The tasks are designed to be short and distinct—typically 5-60 minutes per task.

How flexible is the schedule?

Extremely. This is true "log in and work" flexibility. You can usually work for 20 minutes or 4 hours depending on your availability. There are rarely minimum hour requirements, making it ideal for side income.

Is there an interview?

Usually, no. Hiring for these roles is almost entirely based on passing an automated assessment or "qualification" task. If you pass the test, you get access to the work.

What is the interview like?

You will likely be screened by "Zara", an AI recruiter. Treat this like a real video interview—speak clearly, ensure you have good lighting, and be ready to answer technical questions verbally, as the transcript is reviewed by human managers.
