This role focuses on the precise labeling, transcription, and evaluation of audio data to ensure AI systems accurately capture the specific phonetic, grammatical, and lexical nuances of these regions. The ideal candidate can identify subtle regional markers—such as the distinct use of voseo, aspirated "s" sounds, and regionalisms (caliche)—while maintaining high standards for transcription accuracy and acoustic analysis.
Requirements
- US-Based with Native/Heritage Fluency: Deep, intuitive understanding of the Spanish spoken in Guatemala, El Salvador, or Honduras.
- Linguistic Precision: Strong grasp of Spanish grammar and the ability to distinguish between regional dialects.
- Critical Evaluation: Ability to reason about complex linguistic systems and identify non-obvious model failures.
- Professional English: Excellent written and spoken English for technical reporting and collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and Annotate: Transcribe and label diverse audio samples according to specific Northern Central American linguistic patterns.
- Identify Failure Modes: Detect and flag hallucinations, phonetic errors, or cultural inaccuracies in model-generated speech or transcriptions.
- Linguistic Analysis: Assess model performance regarding prosody, intonation, and regional syntax (e.g., leísmo or specific prepositional usage).
- Quality Feedback: Provide precise, written justifications in English explaining why specific audio outputs do or do not meet regional standards.
- Cultural Validation: Ensure the data reflects the authentic lived experience of Northern Central American speakers, including code-switching nuances if applicable.

Fail or abandon the assessment, and you are typically locked out of that role permanently with no option to retake.
How quickly can I start earning after I pass?
Not immediately. Even after passing the assessment and completing identity verification (via Persona) and billing setup (via Deel), you may sit in a waiting pool for weeks or months. You only start earning when a project matching your specific skills launches and you are officially assigned. Do not plan around Alignerr income until you are actively on a project.
