Job Summary
Join our customer's team as a Full-Stack Engineer (JSON Schema Developer) and play a pivotal role in transforming complex documents into structured, actionable data models. You will leverage your expertise in schema design and data validation to build robust extraction schemas from intricate PDFs, ensuring data quality and seamless integration into downstream systems.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze complex PDF documents (ranging from 25 to 150 pages) to identify relevant data fields for extraction. Design and implement deeply nested JSON schemas from scratch, aligning with data modeling best practices. Define field types, naming conventions, and hierarchical structures to accurately model nested and repeated information. Embed granular validation logic, such as sum checks and null-testing, to ensure data integrity. Collaborate with API Gateway teams to design, document, and enforce API contracts using JSON Schema standards. Work closely with stakeholders to refine requirements, clarify ambiguities, and deliver clear, actionable schema documentation. Champion strong written and verbal communication, ensuring clarity in schema explanations and implementation guidance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience designing complex JSON schemas, including objects within arrays and multilevel nesting. Strong proficiency in JSON, schema design, and data validation methodologies. Demonstrated ability to interpret raw documents and architect robust information models from scratch. Deep understanding of required vs. optional fields, data types, field descriptions, and validation rules. Hands-on experience with API Gateway management and defining secure API contracts. Practical knowledge of JSON Web Token (JWT) standards and secure data handling. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation and collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the others?
Global Access. Micro1 is more open to international applicants (outside the US/UK) than DataAnnotation or Outlier.
What is the catch?
Privacy. Micro1 projects often require you to install time-tracking software that takes screenshots of your desktop while you work to ensure you are actually working. If you are uncomfortable with monitoring software, this might not be for you.
What does the work actually look like?
It is practical, hands-on data work. You might be recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. The tasks are designed to be short and distinct—typically 5-60 minutes per task.
How flexible is the schedule?
Extremely. This is true "log in and work" flexibility. You can usually work for 20 minutes or 4 hours depending on your availability. There are rarely minimum hour requirements, making it ideal for side income.
Is there an interview?
Usually, no. Hiring for these roles is almost entirely based on passing an automated assessment or "qualification" task. If you pass the test, you get access to the work.
What is the interview like?
You will likely be screened by "Zara", an AI recruiter. Treat this like a real video interview—speak clearly, ensure you have good lighting, and be ready to answer technical questions verbally, as the transcript is reviewed by human managers.
