Job Title: Household Data Specialist - Video Capture (PH) Job Type: Contractor Location: Remote, Philippines-based.
Job Summary
Help train the next generation of personal robotics. You'll capture high-quality video demonstrations of everyday household tasks using a UMI gripper, a wearable device that mimics a robot's hand while letting you perform tasks naturally. Your demonstrations become training data that teaches robots how to operate in real homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and submit high-quality, specification-compliant video demonstrations of everyday household tasks using a UMI gripper wearable device.
- Follow detailed, task-specific instructions to ensure all recordings meet rigorous project standards.
- Review feedback from assigned reviewers and iteratively refine your approach to improve data quality.
- Operate and set up recording equipment and the UMI gripper to accurately mimic real-world hand movements while performing tasks.
- Communicate proactively and clearly with the customer’s project team, both in writing and verbally.
- Maintain a consistent weekly workflow to meet the minimum approved data requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Keen attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow complex specifications precisely.
- Manual dexterity and experience with physical task precision in varied household environments.
- Comfort with operating, wearing, and setting up specialized devices and recording equipment.
- Capacity to incorporate feedback and make iterative improvements to processes and outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including openness to prompt feedback exchanges.
- Reliable access to a fully equipped Philippine household environment (kitchen, living spaces, and common items).
- Ability to upload large video files via stable, high-speed internet from your home environment.
- This role involves prolonged use of a VR headset; candidates should be comfortable with extended wear as part of their regular work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Genuine curiosity about personal robotics, AI, and emerging technology in home environments.
- Prior experience participating in data collection, usability studies, or similar hands-on projects.
- Patience for repetitive, precision-oriented work and willingness to adapt as project needs evolve.
Compensation structure
This is a Pay-Per-Task (PPT) project. You're paid per hour of approved data that meets the project specifications, with an initial rate per approved hour during the pilot phase and an improved rate and per approved hour after calibration, once quality benchmarks are consistently met. As a planning benchmark, expect roughly 2 hours of review work per 1 hour of approved data early on, an effective rate of a fixed hourly rate at the pilot stage. That ratio typically improves with familiarity, and the post-calibration rate compounds the upside.
Start Timeline & Availability
We typically fill roles within 48 hours, so we're looking for teammates who are ready to jump in. If selected, we'd love for you to start your first task as soon as you move forward with your application. The expectation is to begin completing tasks within ~24 hours of completing onboarding.
Equipment Requirements
This project involves performing household tasks while wearing a VR headset and a pair of wearable hand-tracking gloves that capture your hand movements and the visual demonstration. All equipment will be shipped to you at no cost, with full setup and usage instructions provided during onboarding. Please ensure your home environment meets the space, lighting, and connectivity requirements covered during onboarding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply to Micro1 from outside the US or UK?
Yes. Micro1 accepts applicants from most countries worldwide, unlike DataAnnotation or Outlier, both of which cap access to a handful of English-speaking countries. Most roles still require strong written and spoken English.
Does Micro1 monitor your computer while you work?
On many projects, yes, through time-tracking tools that take periodic screenshots to verify active hours. Check the specific project's requirements before accepting if desktop monitoring is a dealbreaker.
What does the Micro1 application process look like?
Expect a screening interview with Zara, Micro1's AI recruiter. Prepare for it like a real video call: good lighting, clear audio, verbal answers to technical questions. A human manager reviews the recording afterward, and some roles add a short skills assessment on top.
What does task-based AI training work actually look like?
Practical, hands-on data work: recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. Tasks are designed to be short and distinct, typically 5 to 60 minutes each.
What does asynchronous AI training work mean in practice?
No set hours, no check-ins, no meetings. You log in when you want, pick up an available task, complete it, and submit; nobody is waiting on you in real time. That's different from remote employment, where you're expected online during business hours. The tradeoff: you're competing with others for available tasks, so an empty queue means there's simply nothing to do until more work is released.
What does Generalist work look like for a Remote Household Data Specialist - Video Capture (PH)?
Tasks here are scoped to Generalist, not generic labeling. As a Remote Household Data Specialist - Video Capture (PH), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Generalist) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Generalist background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What does the 'openings' count on this listing mean?
It's Micro1's live count of how many candidates it's still trying to place for this specific role, 10 right now, not a countdown on your individual application. A higher number signals more active demand; it doesn't lower the bar for acceptance.
What happens when I click Apply on this listing?
You'll be taken to Micro1's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.
Can I apply from outside Philippines?
This specific role is restricted to Philippines. If you are outside these locations, applying is unlikely to result in an offer even if you pass the assessment. Check the full job description for any VPN or tax-residency caveats.
