About this Role

From the Turing listing

About the projects: we are building LLM evaluation and training datasets to train LLM to work on realistic software engineering problems. One of our approaches, in this project, is to build verifiable SWE tasks based on public repository histories in a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop; while expanding the dataset coverage to different types of tasks in terms of programming language, difficulty level, and etc.

About the Role: We are looking for experienced software engineers (tech lead level) who are familiar with high-quality public GitHub repositories and can contribute to this project. This role involves hands-on software engineering work, including development environment automation, issue triaging, and evaluating test coverage and quality

Why Join Us? Turing is one of the world’s fastest-growing AI companies accelerating the advancement and deployment of powerful AI systems. You’ll be at the forefront of evaluating how LLMs interact with real code, influencing the future of AI-assisted software development. This is a unique opportunity to blend practical software engineering with AI research.

What does day-to-day look like:

Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries. Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup. Evaluating unit test coverage and quality. Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios. Collaborate with researchers to design and identify repositories and issues that are challenging for LLMs. Opportunities to lead a team of junior engineers to collaborate on projects.

Required Skills:

Minimum 3+ years of overall experience Strong experience with at least one of the following languages:  Python Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup. Ability to understand and navigate complex codebases. Comfortable running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is a plus.

Nice to Have:

Previous participation in LLM research or evaluation projects. Experience building or testing developer tools or automation agents.

Perks of Freelancing With Turing:

Work in a fully remote environment. Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a software engineer to work for Turing?

No, not anymore. Turing built its name matching senior engineers with Silicon Valley companies, but it has since expanded into AGI infrastructure work and now hires non-engineering domain experts, technical writers, and researchers for post-training data annotation and RLHF. A strong analytical background and excellent English matter more than coding ability.

How does Turing's talent matching work?

Turing calls it the Intelligent Talent Cloud. You build a profile and go through vetting (automated tests, an AI-powered interview, practical skill assessments), and once vetted, Turing's algorithm surfaces your profile directly to partner companies like Fortune 500s and top AI labs. You don't browse listings or bid on work; matches come to you.

How and when does Turing pay contractors?

Monthly, in USD, via Deel, Payoneer, or direct bank transfer. You're engaged as an independent contractor responsible for your own local taxes. Plan your cash flow around a monthly cycle if you're used to weekly payouts elsewhere.

What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?

For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.

How is my creative work actually used in AI training?

As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.

Do creative AI training roles allow creative freedom?

Some, within limits. You're hired for your talent, but most projects still require following strict style guides, like keeping a neutral tone or matching a technical-manual style. Consistency across the dataset matters more than personal expression here.

What does Voice Acting work look like for a Transcriber/Audio Annotation Trainer - Korean Language?

Tasks here are scoped to Voice Acting, not generic labeling. As a Transcriber/Audio Annotation Trainer - Korean Language, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Voice Acting) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Voice Acting background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

How many hours per week does this role require?

Based on the listing, this role is scoped at 20–40 hours per week, over roughly a 12-week contract. Treat this as a real commitment expectation, not a loose estimate.

Do I need to be fluent in Korean?

Yes. This role specifically requires Korean proficiency. You will likely be evaluated on written fluency during the assessment, not just conversational level. If Korean is not your first language or you are not professionally fluent, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.

What happens when I click Apply on this listing?

You'll be taken to Turing's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.

Can I apply from outside Bangladesh, Egypt, India and 7 other countries?

This specific role is restricted to Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Ghana, South Korea. If you are outside these locations, applying is unlikely to result in an offer even if you pass the assessment. Check the full job description for any VPN or tax-residency caveats.

Is there an interview?

Yes. Two rounds of interviews (60 min technical + 30 min technical & cultural discussion)
