What to Expect

Assamese language evaluation tasks assess AI accuracy in the primary language of the northeastern Indian state of Assam, written in the Assamese script (closely related to Bengali script but with distinctive letters). Tasks evaluate correct script usage, natural grammatical expression, and authentic Assamese vocabulary. Assamese grammar features a complex verb agreement system, case-marking postpositions, and an evidentiality distinction. The relationship between Assamese and Bengali is similar to Czech and Slovak—related but distinct, and AI often produces Bengali-influenced Assamese. Tasks evaluate whether AI correctly uses Assamese-specific vocabulary and grammatical forms rather than Bengali alternatives. Dialectal variation tasks may address differences between urban Guwahati Assamese and rural varieties. Audio tasks involve recording in natural Assamese speech. Native speaker or near-native fluency is required.
