Introducing AI Trainer Academy: Free Courses to Help You Get Hired Faster
AI Trainer Academy is now live in beta: 9 free courses covering RLHF, instruction following, Python, SQL, medical scribing, and more. No fluff — built around what AI platforms actually test.
Today we're launching AI Trainer Academy — a free education platform built around one question: why do smart, capable people keep failing AI platform screening tests?
The short answer: the skills those tests actually measure — RLHF fundamentals, instruction following, ground truth research, annotation rubrics — are almost never taught anywhere. Job posts assume you already know them. You're left to figure it out through trial and rejection.
Academy changes that. Everything is free. No sign-up required to read. And it's built around exactly what the platforms are looking for.
What's live today
- 9 free courses across 4 tracks — Foundation, Core Skills, Technical, and Domain Specialist
- 15+ hours of content — text-first, no video, fast to read on any device
- Module badges — complete the Calibration Check at the end of each module to earn your badge
- Progress tracking — sign in to pick up where you left off across any device
What's in the curriculum
Each track targets a different type of AI training work. You can take them in any order, but if you're new, the Foundation track is a good place to start.
Three short modules that answer the questions most guides skip over — what AI training actually looks like day-to-day, what platforms are screening for, and how to approach your first annotation task without second-guessing everything.
- → How AI Training Jobs Work (20 min)
- → Passing the Screening Process (25 min)
- → Your First Annotation Task (30 min)
These four modules cover the skills every AI training role expects — regardless of domain. If you do nothing else, do these.
- → Foundations of RLHF (30 min)
- → Ground Truth Research Method (1 hr)
- → Advanced Instruction Following (1.5 hr)
- → Markdown & JSON Formatting Mastery (1 hr)
Technical annotation projects tend to pay more and have less competition. These two modules cover the two most common requirements: Python and SQL.
- → Python for AI Training (2 hr)
- → SQL & Data Handling (1.5 hr)
Specialist roles unlock higher pay rates — but only if you can demonstrate the relevant expertise clearly. These modules cover three high-demand fields.
- → Creative Writing & Style Guide Adherence (2 hr)
- → Medical Scribing & HIPAA for AI (2 hr)
- → STEM & LaTeX (Math Solving) (2.5 hr)
How the modules are structured
Every module (except Foundation) follows the same format, deliberately. We found that the biggest gap between "reading about AI training" and "actually passing a screening test" isn't knowledge — it's applied judgment. So each module is designed to put you in the position of making real decisions before explaining the rules.
Entry Simulation
A judgment call task before any theory. You make a decision, then reveal what the right answer was and why.
Core Content
The rule, the edge cases, and the reality of how it plays out in actual annotation tasks.
Try It Exercises
Short practice prompts throughout the module — same reveal format, no grades.
Calibration Check
A short self-assessment at the end. Pass it to earn your module badge and mark it complete.
This is just the beginning
Academy is launching in beta today. The courses are live and the content is solid — but we have a lot more coming in the weeks ahead.
We're building features that will help you stand out when applying to platforms, strengthen your profile, and — eventually — connect you with a community of people doing this work at a high level. The kind of thing that meaningfully improves your chances of getting hired, not just getting through a reading list.
Creating an account now means you'll be among the first to access those features as they roll out.
