What You'll Do
- Listen to French-language audio recordings and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions
- Handle challenging audio — including overlapping speakers, crosstalk, background noise, accents, and filled pauses typical in Swiss French (e.g., "euh", "hein", "quatre-vingts" vs "huitante")
- Identify and distinguish between multiple speakers throughout a recording
- Follow detailed style and formatting guidelines with precision and consistency
- Apply transcription conventions for non-verbal sounds, inaudible segments, and spoken disfluencies
- Maintain high accuracy and quality standards across large volumes of audio
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
About the Role
What if your ear for spoken Swiss French could directly shape how AI understands and processes real-world conversations? We're looking for detail-oriented French transcriptionists based in Switzerland to produce highly accurate transcriptions of spoken audio — helping train AI systems that millions of people will rely on. This is hands-on, meaningful work that rewards precision and deep listening. You'll tackle real audio featuring multiple speakers, crosstalk, filled pauses, background noise, and natural conversational nuance — including the distinctive characteristics of Swiss French as spoken in Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, and beyond. If you take pride in catching every word and following exacting guidelines, this role is for you. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just native-level French, strong ears, and a commitment to quality.

Common questions
How soon can I start earning on Alignerr after passing the assessment?
Not right away. After passing, you still complete identity verification through Persona and billing setup through Deel, then wait in a pool for weeks or months. You only start earning once a project matching your specific skills launches and assigns you. Don't count on Alignerr income until you're actively placed on a project.
Does Alignerr have a trainer community?
Yes, and it's a genuine strength. Once you're assigned to a project, you join Slack channels where you can get rubric clarifications from admins and talk to other trainers. That kind of support is rare in AI training and matters most when guidelines are ambiguous or shift mid-project.
Do creative AI training roles allow creative freedom?
Some, within limits. You're hired for your talent, but most projects still require following strict style guides, like keeping a neutral tone or matching a technical-manual style. Consistency across the dataset matters more than personal expression here.
What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?
For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.
What does Languages work look like for a French Audio Transcriptionist — Switzerland (AI Training)?
Tasks here are scoped to Languages, not generic labeling. As a French Audio Transcriptionist — Switzerland (AI Training), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Languages) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Languages background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
French and Multilingual are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $10–$35/hr, an hourly rate. The range reflects experience level and negotiated terms, not a placeholder, so where you land in it depends on your background and the assessment. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
Do I need to be fluent in French?
Yes. This role specifically requires French proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If French is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.
Do I need a Master's to qualify?
This role lists a master's degree as a requirement. In practice, the domain assessment is the real gate. If you can pass it, the degree is usually secondary. However, some platforms verify credentials formally, so list your actual qualifications accurately on your profile.
Can I apply from outside France?
This specific role is open only to people based in France. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply.
What is the barrier to entry for Alignerr?
A difficult, timed technical assessment in your specific domain, like Python, physics, or language. Passing it is required before you're eligible for any paid projects.
