What to Expect

Bulgarian language evaluation tasks assess AI accuracy in a South Slavic language with some distinctive features among Slavic languages: Bulgarian has largely lost the case system that defines other Slavic languages (articles are suffixed instead), and it has grammaticalized evidentiality—marking whether information is directly witnessed or learned indirectly. These features mean Bulgarian AI errors differ from typical Slavic AI errors: tasks evaluate definite article suffix selection (there are three forms depending on grammatical function), the evidential/renarrative verb forms, and aspect. Cyrillic script accuracy is also evaluated. Register tasks assess formal written Bulgarian versus contemporary colloquial speech. Audio tasks involve recording in authentic Bulgarian speech. Native speaker or near-native fluency is required.
