What to Expect

Chemistry evaluation tasks span organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry. You'll verify reaction mechanisms (SN1 vs. SN2, electrophilic aromatic substitution, oxidation states), check whether AI-predicted reaction products are chemically reasonable, balance complex redox equations, and assess whether lab safety protocols in AI-generated procedures are adequate. Physical chemistry tasks involve thermodynamic calculations, equilibrium constants, and kinetics problems. Organic chemistry mechanism tracing—following electron movement through multi-step syntheses—is a common task type. Laboratory experience is valued because AI tends to generate procedures that are textbook-correct but practically unrealistic. Advanced degree or strong undergraduate background in chemistry is typical.
