Interview Prep
Sample questions for a Graphic Designer role, written in-house to help you prepare.
How do you decide on a color palette for a brand that needs to work across both digital and print media?
I start from the brand's core colors defined in a color-accurate space, then check how they render across contexts, since a color that looks vibrant on screen can shift noticeably in CMYK print. I build a small reference sheet showing approved values for each medium so the palette stays consistent.
What's your process for choosing typography for a new project?
I look at legibility at the sizes the design will actually be used at first, then narrow down based on the tone the brand needs, since a typeface that looks great in a mockup can fail at body text size. I usually test two or three finalists in real layout contexts before committing.
How do you approach designing a layout that needs to communicate a hierarchy of information at a glance?
I use size, weight, and spacing together rather than relying on just one, since a viewer should be able to tell what matters most within a second or two of looking at the page. I test this by squinting at the layout or shrinking it small to see if the hierarchy still reads.
What file formats and settings do you use when preparing assets for a developer to implement?
I export vector assets as SVG when possible to keep them scalable and lightweight, and I provide a clear naming convention and spacing specs alongside the files, since developers need exact values, not just a visual reference. I also flag any assets that need to work across multiple screen densities.

Common questions
Why does Mindrift pay less than other AI training platforms?
General evaluation tasks pay $15-30/hr because they're high-volume, lower-complexity work like basic fact-checking and tone evaluation that doesn't require an advanced degree. Verified domain experts see rates scale up to $40-100+/hr on specialized projects, so the path is to start generalist and build toward a specialist track.
What does a typical Mindrift task involve?
Read a scenario, write a short prompt for the AI (around 100 words), evaluate two AI responses to it, fact-check the outputs, then write a brief explanation (around 50 words) on which response is better against the project rubric. The focus is clarity, safety, and rule-following, not creative writing.
Do task-based AI training roles require an interview?
Most skip a live interview entirely and gate access through an automated assessment or qualification task instead. Where we've confirmed the specific requirement for this listing, it's called out above in What We Know About This Role.
What does task-based AI training work look like?
Practical, hands-on data work: recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. Tasks are designed to be short and distinct, typically 5 to 60 minutes each.
What does Design work look like for a Freelance Graphic Designer?
Tasks here are scoped to Design, not generic labeling. As a Freelance Graphic Designer, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Design) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Design background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
English and Polish are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $30/hr, an hourly rate. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
Do I need to be fluent in English or Polish?
Yes. This role specifically requires English or Polish proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If English is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.
Can I apply from outside Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and 3 other countries?
This specific role is open only to people based in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Peru. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply, since they can differ by country.
