About this Role
From the SME Careers listing
As an hourly paid, fully remote Go Engineer for AI Data Training, you will review AI-generated Go code and explanations or generate your own, evaluate the reasoning quality and step-by-step problem-solving, and provide expert feedback that helps models produce answers that are accurate, logical, and clearly explained. You will assess solutions for correctness, readability, and adherence to backend-style best practices; identify errors in concurrency, error handling, or conceptual understanding; fact-check information; write high-quality explanations and model solutions that demonstrate idiomatic Go; and rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and reasoning quality. This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate that provides AI training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation model labs, and your work will directly help improve the world’s premier AI models while giving you the flexibility of impactful, detail-oriented remote contract work.
Important: There is no immediate project for this role; however, if qualified, you will be among the first experts we reach out to when relevant opportunities arise. This will also provide you with access to future projects available through our expert network.
Key responsibilities
- Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts in various topics and responses to guide AI learning, ensuring the models reflect a comprehensive understanding of diverse subjects.
- Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to enhance the model's accuracy, fluency, and contextual relevance.
- Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI models for potential inaccuracies or biases, validating their reliability across use cases.
Your profile
- 1–2+ years of professional Go programming experience, ideally focused on backend services, APIs, or systems work.
- Strong understanding of Go idioms, including clear error handling, composition over inheritance, and simple, readable interfaces.
- Hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining backend-style Go applications in production environments.
- Ability to evaluate correctness and readability in backend-oriented Go code, including concurrency patterns, error propagation, and API design.
- Significant experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants while programming, combined with a disciplined approach to validating their output.
- Excellent English writing skills, capable of producing precise, structured, and pedagogical technical explanations.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
- Previous experience with AI data training, code review at scale, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content is strongly preferred; Minimum C1 English proficiency and an extremely detail-oriented working style are required.
- Highly preferred: hands-on experience with Go frameworks and libraries such as Gin, gRPC, or Echo in real projects.
- Preferred: merged PRs in Go open-source projects, competitive programming experience, cloud-native development exposure, and familiarity with Go performance profiling tools and techniques.
🌍 Geographic Availability This role is available to qualified experts globally. However, as a U.S.-based company, SME Careers complies with U.S. export control and sanctions regulations. Eligibility depends on your country of residence and any applicable trade restrictions. Some projects may have additional language or region-specific requirements.

Why This Role
Most AI training platforms cap you at task-taker. SME Careers is different: a Go Engineer who performs well gets promoted, not just re-queued. It's a genuine path from freelance Software Engineering work into a leadership track, with weekly Deel payouts and flexible hours along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does SME Careers offer a path for advancement?
Yes. SME Careers is unusual among AI training platforms for this: it publishes an explicit career ladder, Data Trainer, then Quality Analyst, then QA Lead, then Project Manager. Consistent, high-quality work is what moves you up it.
How does SME Careers pay freelancers?
Weekly, through Deel. Deel also handles tax compliance, which is how SME Careers pays contractors across more than 40 countries without running its own international payroll.
Is SME Careers work ongoing or project-based?
Project-based. Assignment duration and availability vary by project, but consistently high-quality work earns priority access to whatever comes next.
What does task-based AI training work actually look like?
Practical, hands-on data work: recording short videos, categorizing images, rating text responses, or analyzing data. Tasks are designed to be short and distinct, typically 5 to 60 minutes each.
What does asynchronous AI training work mean in practice?
No set hours, no check-ins, no meetings. You log in when you want, pick up an available task, complete it, and submit; nobody is waiting on you in real time. That's different from remote employment, where you're expected online during business hours. The tradeoff: you're competing with others for available tasks, so an empty queue means there's simply nothing to do until more work is released.
Do task-based AI training roles require an interview?
Check the Job Facts panel above for this specific listing. Where no fact is confirmed yet: most of these roles skip a live interview and gate access through an automated assessment or qualification task instead, though some do add an interview step, so don't assume either way until you check the application flow.
What does Software Engineering work look like for a Go Engineer?
Tasks here are scoped to Software Engineering, not generic labeling. As a Go Engineer, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Software Engineering) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Software Engineering background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What happens when I click Apply on this listing?

Who is behind SME Careers?
SME Careers is the expert talent division of SuperAnnotate, an AI data infrastructure platform, connecting domain experts with high-level AI training projects.
