From the SME Careers listing
In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Nepali Language Expert (SME) to review AI-generated Nepali content and/or create high-quality Nepali reference content, evaluating language quality and step-by-step reasoning while providing precise written feedback. You will assess outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in meaning, mistranslation, register, ambiguity, unnatural phrasing, terminology, script/formatting, and logical consistency; fact-check claims when needed; write high-quality rewrites and model answers that demonstrate best practices in Nepali writing; and rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and overall quality.
This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your Nepali expertise directly helps improve the world’s premier AI models by making their Nepali language output more natural, reliable, culturally accurate, and clearly written.
Key responsibilities
- Create realistic Postman tasks: Come up with realistic and challenging tasks that can be executed on the computer using Postman, then document the task clearly in SuperAnnotate.
- Prepare the work environment: Ensure your setup supports the task, including having Postman installed or accessible, test APIs available, sample payloads prepared, environments configured, and any required references ready before recording.
- Record task execution: Record yourself executing the Postman task on your computer while following project instructions and ensuring the workflow is clear, complete, realistic, and safe.
- Document task context: Provide enough task context, steps, goals, endpoints, payloads, files, and notes so reviewers can understand what the task is and how it was completed.
- Demonstrate practical software use: Complete workflows involving requests, headers, parameters, authentication, environments, collections, variables, response validation, test scripts, documentation, or troubleshooting where relevant.
- Maintain submission quality: Review your recording and documentation before submission to ensure the task is complete, understandable, realistic, safe, and aligned with project guidelines.
Your profile
- Hands-on experience using Postman for API requests, testing, collections, environments, variables, authentication, documentation, or debugging workflows.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher to understand project instructions, document tasks clearly, and communicate with the project team.
- Comfortable using a computer, developer tools, browser-based or desktop Postman, API documentation, files, and recording workflows.
- Ability to come up with realistic and challenging Postman tasks that reflect actual API testing, QA, backend, integration, automation, documentation, or developer workflows.
- Strong understanding of Postman basics such as HTTP methods, URLs, headers, query parameters, request bodies, status codes, variables, environments, collections, and authentication.
- Ability to ensure your setup supports the task, including having Postman installed or accessible, test APIs available, credentials/tokens handled safely, sample payloads prepared, and any required references ready before recording.
- High attention to detail when preparing the task, executing the workflow, and checking that the recording is complete, safe, and understandable.
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
- Additional professional skills are appreciated, including QA, backend development, API testing, DevOps, coding, technical support, documentation, operations, or other computer-based workflows.

How long hiring takes
Across the AI training platforms we refer candidates to, the median gap between referral and hire is about 30 days. It varies by platform and role, so treat it as a rough guide for this one.
Why this role
This Nepali Language Expert role pays $15 per hour for reviewing AI-generated Nepali content and writing high-quality reference rewrites where the model's register, terminology, or script formatting is off. The task list specifically calls out unnatural phrasing and script or formatting errors, on top of the usual grammar, spelling, and cultural-appropriateness checks. Solid, consistent work in this role is also the entry point into the Nepali Team Lead position in the same project, which pays more to oversee that same kind of review across a team.

Common questions
Does SME Careers offer a path for advancement?
Yes. SME Careers is unusual among AI training platforms for this: it publishes an explicit career ladder, Data Trainer, then Quality Analyst, then QA Lead, then Project Manager. Consistent, high-quality work is what moves you up it.
How does SME Careers pay freelancers?
Weekly, through Deel. Deel also handles tax compliance, which is how SME Careers pays contractors across more than 40 countries without running its own international payroll.
What does asynchronous AI training work mean in practice?
No set hours, no check-ins, no meetings. You log in when you want, pick up an available task, complete it, and submit; nobody is waiting on you in real time. That's different from remote employment, where you're expected online during business hours. The tradeoff: you're competing with others for available tasks, so an empty queue means there's simply nothing to do until more work is released.
Do task-based AI training roles require an interview?
Most skip a live interview entirely and gate access through an automated assessment or qualification task instead. Where we've confirmed the specific requirement for this listing, it's called out above in What We Know About This Role.
What does Languages work look like for a Nepali Language Expert?
Tasks here are scoped to Languages, not generic labeling. As a Nepali Language Expert, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Languages) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Languages background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
English, Environments, Collections, and HTTP Requests are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $15/hr, a per-task rate. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
What happens when I click Apply on this listing?
You'll be taken to SME Careers's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.
Who is behind SME Careers?
