Head of Engineering (US)

We are looking for a Head of Engineering with 5+ years of experience to take ownership of engineering at a fast-growing, AI-forward startup building the universal identity layer for global business trust.

You'll be a hands-on technical leader, splitting your time roughly 50/50 between writing production code and managing/scaling and setting the direction for the Engineering team. This is a foundational leadership role at a Seed-stage company backed by Kaszek, Gradient (Google's AI fund), and other top investors, with a clear path to grow into a larger leadership position as we scale.

We need someone with startup experience (early stage startup experience, ideally Seed to Series A, is a very nice to have), strong B2B enterprise instincts, and the product-mindedness to shape what we build, not just how we build it.

What you will do:

• Lead and scale the engineering organization - set the hiring bar, recruit exceptional engineers, and build a high-talent-density team

• Stay hands-on in the codebase, shipping production code alongside the engineers you lead

• Own the AI strategy for the company, keeping Niva at the forefront of new AI developments and building multi-agent systems that autonomously verify business identity data worldwide

• Wear a product hat - contribute to product direction and UX decisions as a key member of the leadership team working closely with the CEO

• Own the technical vision, architecture, and platform direction as Niva expands across Latin America and into new regions and markets
