About this Role
We are looking for a Managing Attorney with 4-5+ years of experience to lead legal operations and people across five immigration practice areas at a fast-growing, AI-native consumer law firm. This person will bridge the gap between legal excellence and business outcomes, driving operational metrics, people leadership, and efficiency at scale as the company continues its rapid growth trajectory (5x in the last six months).
What you need
- Licensed to practise law in Ontario (LSO) and in good standing
- Deep Canadian immigration experience spanning PR/Express Entry, Family Class, and ideally Work Permits and Criminal Inadmissibility
- Proven people management experience with lawyers and non-lawyer staff
- Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable in a fast-moving, startup-like environment (candidates from large, traditional firms are less preferred)
- Experience with high-volume caseloads, ideally from a smaller or mid-sized shop
What will you be doing?
Overseeing operational health metrics across all five practice areas (Express Entry, Family Class, Criminal Inadmissibility, Work Permits, Citizenship by Descent) via the firm's command center
Leading and managing lawyers, practice leads, and case managers, including coaching, performance management, capacity planning, and exits when needed
Bridging the legal side of the business with P&L and business outcomes, tracking metrics like cost per file and team efficiency
Owning legal escalations, quality standards, and risk decisions across all files
Partnering with product and engineering to redesign legal workflows with AI and automation
