Mobile Engineer, Applied AI (US)

We are looking for an Mobile Engineer with 1, 10 years of experience to own and ship core pieces of Citizen's consumer app, the #1 public safety app in the U.S., used by millions daily. You're someone who is obsessed with AI, attends meetups and conferences, tinkers with side projects, and wants to build products that matter. We're open to unconventional backgrounds, founders, career-switchers, open-source contributors, as long as you're deeply passionate about mobile and AI-forward development. You'll work on-site in New York City every day alongside a small, flat engineering team shipping real-time, life-saving features at scale.

What will you be doing?

• Own and ship core iOS surfaces, live video and broadcast, real-time alerts, the map, and the paid experience, in a consumer app used by millions

• Build and extend AI agent loops wired into the iOS repo that draft, review, test, and instrument code, pushing the boundaries of what ships without a human in the loop

• Run Release Captain weeks end-to-end: CI, TestFlight, phased rollout, crash triage, and hotfixes

• Instrument features with Segment events, validate data lands in BigQuery, and ensure the funnels leadership reads are accurate

• Collaborate daily with backend, design, product, and data teams to ship measurable improvements to performance, reliability, and retention
