- Workplace:
- 5 days per week in-person at ResiQuant's San Francisco HQ. Relocation support available for the right candidate.
- Equity:
-
Meaningful early-stage equity. As a seed-stage company (~11 employees, $5.65M raised), equity grants at this stage carry significant potential upside. Expect a competitive early-employee equity package commensurate with a founding/early engineering hire at a well-backed seed-stage startup.

What you'll do
- Own and evolve the agentic systems that power ResiQuant's three core AI agents, Submission AI, Engineering AI, and Underwriting AI, ensuring they reason reliably over messy, incomplete evidence at carrier scale.
- Build and maintain multi-step workflows across vision-language models, long-form document extraction, and web/public-record retrieval, with systems that know when to say "unknown" rather than guess.
- Design and operate evaluation infrastructure, ground-truth pipelines, rubrics co-developed with structural engineers, and regression suites, so every prompt, model, or pipeline change is validated before it reaches a customer.
- Engineer production-grade backend systems: rate-limit handling, model fallbacks, caching, cost/latency budgets, structured logging, and end-to-end error tracing for every submission.
- Work directly with both co-founders and domain-expert structural engineers in a tight feedback loop, the company's core edge, translating their knowledge of how buildings fail into trustworthy AI outputs.
- Ship Python services on PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure, maintaining strong API design, data pipeline reliability, and observability standards.
What you need
- We need someone with 1-4 years of engineering experience who has shipped agentic or LLM-powered systems to production for business customers, not just prototypes. You should be comfortable working in-person five days a week at our SF HQ alongside structural engineering PhDs and co-founders, with a track record of building reliable AI pipelines end-to-end (document ingestion, vision-language models, retrieval, multi-step tool use). Bonus points if you were a founding or early engineer at a YC- or Pear-grade B2B AI startup.
Why this role matters:
Underwriters make real pricing and binding decisions on what your systems return. A stalled submission means an underwriter is waiting. Accuracy isn't a benchmark, it's somebody's building. You'll have true end-to-end ownership: design, build, evaluate, and run in production.
