What you'll do

  • Design and develop full-stack features for GTV, Unit's AI video platform, including elegant UIs, robust APIs and scalable infrastructure
  • Take ownership of the product side of GTV and drive features from prototype to launch, with a focus on latency, usability and visual craftsmanship
  • Work closely with Product, Sales, Marketing and the founders to integrate generative models (at the API layer) and unlock new consumer use cases
  • Build high-quality, design-forward product experiences that turn designs into polished, production-ready interfaces
  • Lead major product initiatives from concept to launch, including supporting Unit's big upcoming launches
  • Set engineering guidelines and code quality standards, and mentor teammates by example to improve team velocity and product quality Recruiter notes: Ask every candidate for a portfolio of things they've built, especially visual or product work (not a design portfolio). Candidates don't need to be designers, but they must know how to build designs well. This role stops at the API layer: no model training, evals or deep AWS infra ownership is required. The process is fast: one screen with the founder, then a full on-site day (system design, coding, career interview, lunch and a hands-on technical project), with a possible same-day offer.

What you need

  • We need someone with 5, 10 years of software engineering experience in full-stack product development (TypeScript, NextJS/React, NodeJS) who has built and shipped real AI/LLM-powered agentic products in industry, with at least 12 months of hands-on agent work at a startup or AI-focused company. You should be comfortable working 5 days a week on-site in a fast-moving, founder-led startup, turning designs into polished, visual product experiences with strong design sense and taste. You should also have a track record of leading by example as a hands-on tech lead: setting engineering standards, writing excellent code, and helping a team of strong mid-level engineers level up. Bonus points if you have experience with video generation, encoding, playback or distribution, or with consumer-facing generative AI products.

Non-negotiables:

  • Strong technical fundamentals: a deep understanding of CS concepts, system design, algorithms and app architecture, not just generating code without understanding it. Candidates will face rigorous coding and system design interviews.
  • Clear, fluent English communication: strong reading, writing and speaking skills for in-person collaboration, documentation and writing skills/prompts for agents.
  • Industry experience with agentic development/LLMs: at least 12 months building agents or LLM products professionally at a startup or company with a strong AI reputation. Personal side projects don't count.
  • Startup experience: candidates with only big tech experience are not a fit.
  • Formal CS/engineering degree: no bootcamp-only or self-taught backgrounds.
