About this Role

Who we're targeting:

We need someone with 2-4 years of software engineering experience building consumer-facing products in React or React Native with strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, runtime efficiency). You should be comfortable owning features end-to-end in a fast, low-red-tape, on-site startup, and have a track record of shipping features that move product metrics like activation, engagement, and retention.

Astrocade has a high bar. Candidates need a CS degree from an Ivy League or another top program. Their team is mostly made up of ex-Meta engineers, so they have a strong bias towards ex-FAANG candidates. They'll also consider experience at a two-sided marketplace or consumer social company such as Uber, DoorDash, TikTok, Pinterest, Shopify, or Spotify. We also welcome founders whose startups didn't work out.

What you'll do

  • Build multi-platform features and user journeys end-to-end in React, React Native, and TypeScript, taking them from prototype to production across web and mobile
  • Take ownership of features from a shared backlog and drive them through scoping, implementation, shipping, and measurement, with minimal process in the way
  • Work closely with the data and recommender-systems (RecSys) teams, the PM/product growth function, and fellow engineers to find friction on both sides of the platform (creators and players) and raise retention, which is tracked weekly through a shared data flywheel
  • Develop and improve core frontend architecture, from the game feed to the creator experience, and write backend code when needed (the work is roughly 80-90% frontend)
  • Lead A/B tests and experiments at consumer scale, from forming the hypothesis through experiment design to interpreting results with Amplitude, Mixpanel, or custom SQL
  • Use and build agentic AI tools to automate workflows, find insights, and scale what works, and turn analytics into hypotheses and shipped improvements to acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention
