Senior Robotics Planning Engineer (US)

We are looking for a Senior Robotics Planning Engineer with 5+ years of experience to develop the high-level autonomy systems that coordinate fleets of autonomous haul trucks in mining environments. You'll join Pronto AI (now part of Atoms), a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle technology with production-deployed Autonomous Haulage Systems operating across mines in the US, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil. This is a critical role, you'll be responsible for ensuring trucks navigate smoothly without unnecessary stops, designing path planning and multi-vehicle coordination systems that directly impact site productivity and safety. You'll be one of the early members of a growing planning team, with the opportunity to touch motion planning, coordination planning, and fleet planning from the ground up. What will you be doing?

• Developing trajectory planning and path planning systems for 200+ ton autonomous haul trucks, ensuring smooth navigation and minimizing unnecessary stops caused by unplanned obstacles

• Designing intersection management systems that compute optimal truck sequences to minimize total wait time across multi-vehicle operations

• Building coordination planning systems to simultaneously manage the motion of multiple vehicles with intersecting trajectories, preventing deadlocks and collisions

• Creating fleet planning algorithms that dynamically translate site-wide state (loading/dumping locations) into actively managed assignments for each truck

• Collaborating with controls and systems engineers to validate planning concepts during live deployments, with some schedule flexibility required during testing phases
