About this role

From the Turing listing

A global technology organization delivering Private Cloud, Data, and AI enterprise solutions is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to partner directly with strategic enterprise customers across the United States. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, strategy, and customer engagement—embedding on-site with clients to architect, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems that solve high-impact business challenges. As a senior individual contributor reporting to the VP of Data & AI, you will own the complete solution lifecycle—from discovery and rapid prototyping to production deployment and continuous optimization. You will serve as the technical bridge between advanced AI platform capabilities and complex enterprise environments, building scalable agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, knowledge graphs, and real-time decision systems integrated with ERP, CRM, and data platforms.

This role is remote (US-based) with up to 25% travel for customer engagements.

Required Skills

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI/ML delivery
  • 4+ years in customer-facing, consulting, or forward-deployed roles
  • Proven track record building and deploying enterprise-scale AI/ML applications in production
  • Deep proficiency in Python (required) plus Node.js or Go
  • Strong full-stack capabilities (React or Vue) and experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Hands-on expertise with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines (LlamaIndex, Haystack), vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, AstraDB), and agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI)
  • Experience developing and fine-tuning LLM/SLM solutions
  • Strong DevOps foundation: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, GPU infrastructure, cloud-native deployment patterns
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with heterogeneous enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, data warehouses, data lakes, streaming architectures)
  • Ability to architect scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across structured and unstructured data sources
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry, and governance for AI systems in production
  • Strong executive communication skills; comfortable presenting to C-suite and facilitating technical workshops
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into structured engineering roadmaps
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Palantir Foundry, AIP, Uniphore BAIC, or similar
  • Knowledge of ontology modeling, knowledge graphs, and semantic data management
  • Experience building multi-agent AI systems with autonomous workflow orchestration
  • Familiarity with SLM fine-tuning, model distillation, RLHF, and AI evaluation frameworks
  • Experience with GPU infrastructure (e.g., NVIDIA H100/B200, InfiniBand) and private cloud platforms (OpenStack, VMware)
  • AI/ML, Foundry, or cloud certifications
  • Prior experience in technology consulting, AI startups, or enterprise solutions engineering
  • Domain expertise in financial services, healthcare, supply chain, defense, energy, or manufacturing

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in one of: Remote, Thailand, United States
  • Fluent proficiency in English (Written & Verbal)
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Software Engineering

Common questions

Do I need to be a software engineer to work for Turing?

No, not anymore. Turing built its name matching senior engineers with Silicon Valley companies, but it has since expanded into AGI infrastructure work and now hires non-engineering domain experts, technical writers, and researchers for post-training data annotation and RLHF. A strong analytical background and excellent English matter more than coding ability.

How does Turing's talent matching work?

Turing calls it the Intelligent Talent Cloud. You build a profile and go through vetting (automated tests, an AI-powered interview, practical skill assessments), and once vetted, Turing's algorithm surfaces your profile directly to partner companies like Fortune 500s and top AI labs. You don't browse listings or bid on work; matches come to you.

What does asynchronous AI training work mean in practice?

No set hours, no check-ins, no meetings. You log in when you want, pick up an available task, complete it, and submit; nobody is waiting on you in real time. That's different from remote employment, where you're expected online during business hours. The tradeoff: you're competing with others for available tasks, so an empty queue means there's simply nothing to do until more work is released.

What does Software Engineering work look like for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Data Migration, Cloud Architecture, Python/SQL)?

Tasks here are scoped to Software Engineering, not generic labeling. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Data Migration, Cloud Architecture, Python/SQL), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Software Engineering) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Software Engineering background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

What specific skills does this listing call for?

Coding, SQL, and Python are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.

How much does this specific role pay?

The listing doesn't state a rate. The $30–$65/hr shown here is our estimate from the role type and location (see /pay-methodology), so treat it as a rough guide and confirm the actual rate with the platform before committing time.

What happens when I click Apply on this listing?

You'll be taken to Turing's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.

Can I apply from outside Thailand or the United States?

This specific role is open only to people based in Thailand and the United States. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply, since they can differ by country.
