About this role
From the AfterQuery listing
We have a new quick-turnaround audio project and are looking for authentic Italian-accented English speakers to join as voice contributors. You will record yourself reading a short script by following a simple step-by-step guide — the work takes approximately 15 minutes or less. Pay is $50 flat per submission. Spots are limited, as we are accepting only 3 to 5 speakers for this accent, so we encourage interested applicants to apply promptly. All genders are welcome. Your accent must be your natural, authentic Italian-influenced English accent — submissions with faked or imitated accents will not be compensated and will be removed from the project. To qualify, you will need access to a smartphone or computer with a microphone and the ability to follow simple written instructions independently.

Common questions
When does AfterQuery pay contractors?
On a per-contract schedule, typically net-15 to net-30 from invoice submission rather than the weekly payouts some platforms offer. Confirm the exact terms in your contract, and ask your project contact directly if payment timing affects your cash flow.
Do I need a PhD to qualify for AfterQuery?
Only for specialist roles: ML research, atmospheric modeling, bioinformatics, COBOL, and audit accounting positions require verifiable credentials, usually a PhD, master's degree, or 5+ years of professional experience. AfterQuery's domain screeners check credentials before confirming an assignment, so listing a degree without the matching experience won't get you through. Generalist reviewer roles have a lower bar but come up less often.
What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?
For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.
How is my creative work used in AI training?
As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.
What does Languages work look like for a Bilingual Audio Contributor (Italian/English)?
Tasks here are scoped to Languages, not generic labeling. As a Bilingual Audio Contributor (Italian/English), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Languages) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Languages background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
Data Annotation, Bilingual, English, and Italian are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $50/task, a per-task rate. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
Do I need to be fluent in English or Italian?
Yes. This role specifically requires English or Italian proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If English is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.
How does per-task pay translate to an hourly rate?
It doesn't directly, that's the catch. Each task has a listed price and an estimated completion time, but your actual effective rate depends on how fast you work. If a task is estimated at 20 minutes and pays $8, that is $24/hr for a fast worker and $12/hr for a slow one. Track your actual time on the first few tasks before treating the listed rate as your real hourly income.
What happens when I click Apply on this listing?
You'll be taken to Afterquery's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.
Can I apply from outside Italy?
This specific role is open only to people based in Italy. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply.
