Dutch language evaluation tasks assess AI Dutch for grammatical accuracy, natural expression, and appropriate register. Dutch grammar challenges for AI include de/het gender assignment (Dutch has two genders but the rules are complex and partially lexically determined), separable verbs (the particle position varies by clause type), and diminutive usage (more extensive in Dutch than AI typically captures). Tasks also evaluate whether AI correctly handles Belgian Dutch (Flemish) versus Netherlands Dutch variation when dialect-specific content is requested. Register evaluation covers the range from formal written Dutch to informal conversational Dutch, including the colloquial contractions common in casual speech. Audio tasks involve recording in authentic Dutch or Flemish accents. Native speaker or C2-level fluency is required.
