Common questions

How long does it take to start working on Outlier after applying?

Anywhere from 3 days to several months. The gap comes down to demand: if Outlier needs your specific major or skill set right now, onboarding is fast. If not, you sit in a pending queue until a matching project opens.

Is Outlier a full-time job?

No, it's freelance project work, not employment. Hours can reach 40 a week when projects are active, but assignments pause or end without notice. Treat it as a side income stream, not your primary source of rent money.

What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?

For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.

How is my creative work used in AI training?

As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.

What does Languages work look like for a Voice Conversation Quality Evaluator - Thai?

Tasks here are scoped to Languages, not generic labeling. As a Voice Conversation Quality Evaluator - Thai, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Languages) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Languages background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

What specific skills does this listing call for?

Thai is named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with this, expect the screening process to test for it directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.

How much does this specific role pay?

This listing is posted at $10/hr, an hourly rate. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.

Do I need to be fluent in Thai?

Yes. This role specifically requires Thai proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If Thai is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.

Can I apply from outside Thailand or the United States?

This specific role is open only to people based in Thailand and the United States. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply, since they can differ by country.

Is Outlier work consistent week to week?

No, it's project-based, and you'll periodically hit an "Empty Queue" where no tasks are available for your expertise. Treat it as secondary income rather than a full-time replacement.
