What to Expect

Thai language evaluation tasks address a tonal language with a complex script system and an elaborate social register hierarchy. Thai has five tones, and AI tonal accuracy in audio tasks is evaluated carefully. Written Thai tasks assess correct script usage—Thai has no spaces between words (syllables are the orthographic unit), and correct word boundary awareness matters for readability. The Thai register system, from royal vocabulary (ราชาศัพท์) to polite formal language to colloquial speech, is evaluated in register-sensitive tasks. Politeness particles (ครับ for male speakers, ค่ะ/คะ for female speakers) must be consistently appropriate. Thai has significant dialectal variation (Central, Northern, Northeastern/Isan, Southern)—tasks specify the target variety. Audio tasks involve recording in natural Thai speech. Native speaker or C2-level fluency is required.
