What to Expect

Turkish language evaluation tasks address an agglutinative Turkic language where AI faces systematic challenges with the complex suffix-stacking morphology. Turkish vowel harmony governs which vowel variant of each suffix attaches to a stem, and AI regularly violates this rule. The evidentiality system—Turkish grammatically marks whether information is directly witnessed or reported second-hand—is frequently evaluated because AI typically ignores this distinction. Case suffixes, the negative harmony rule, and the relative clause formation system (Turkish uses participial relativization rather than relative pronouns) are other key evaluation areas. Tasks assess both formal written Turkish and natural conversational Turkish, which differ considerably. Audio tasks involve recording in natural Turkish speech. Native speaker or near-native fluency with explicit grammatical awareness is required.
