Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to pay tax on AI training income in Ukraine?
Yes. Freelance income from foreign platforms must be declared to the State Tax Service of Ukraine. Many IT freelancers register as a FOP (fizychna osoba-pidpryiemets) under group 3, a simplified system taxing roughly 5% of turnover, well established for exactly this kind of foreign-client contract work.
Are there currency restrictions to know about?
The National Bank of Ukraine has maintained wartime currency controls since 2022, which can affect how foreign currency is converted and moved. Check current NBU rules before assuming a payout method works the same way it did before.
How do I get paid?
Wise and Payoneer are the standard options for receiving USD, converting to UAH through a Ukrainian bank subject to current NBU regulations.
Is remote AI training work legit for people in Ukraine?
Yes. Platforms including SME Careers and Turing hire Ukraine-based contractors directly, drawing on Ukraine's well-established IT freelance workforce.
What skills are most in demand from Ukraine-based applicants?
Coding and software-engineering roles draw heavy interest from Ukraine's large developer workforce, alongside a real niche in Ukrainian-language evaluation.
How many Ukraine AI training jobs are open right now?
This page is showing 930 listings open to contractors in Ukraine, sourced from 9 platforms: Micro1 (310), Ethos (238), SME Careers (218), Turing (143) and Mercor (10). The most recent one was picked up today. The count moves as platforms post and close roles, so treat it as a snapshot of today rather than a fixed figure.
What do Ukraine AI training jobs pay?
Most sit between $65 and $100 an hour, with a median of $75, measured across the 518 listings on this page that quote an hourly rate. The highest rate currently posted here is $400 an hour. These are the figures the platforms published, not our estimates, and the rate you are offered depends on how you do in that platform's assessment.
Are Ukraine roles paid hourly or per task?
Both appear here. 46 listings pay per task or per project rather than by the hour, and the rest quote an hourly rate. Per-task work suits people who are fast and accurate, since your effective hourly rate depends on how long each unit takes you.
