About this role
From the AfterQuery listing
Assist in the development of an AI research tool that generates structured tables in response to complex questions. We're hiring fluent Mandarin Chinese speakers to serve as expert reviewers: humans who verify, correct, and improve the AI's output to ensure it meets a high standard of accuracy and completeness.
This is a remote, project-based role for fluent Mandarin Chinese speakers with strong research and analytical skills. Your work involves verifying the accuracy and completeness of AI-generated outputs — reading research questions, evaluating each table entry against primary sources, and searching for missing information the AI may have overlooked.
Work is asynchronous and self-paced, with an expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week over the next several weeks. Each review task takes approximately 1.5–2 hours to complete.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in one of: Remote, China
- Fluent proficiency in English (Written & Verbal)
- Reliable high-speed internet connection

Common questions
When does AfterQuery pay contractors?
On a per-contract schedule, typically net-15 to net-30 from invoice submission rather than the weekly payouts some platforms offer. Confirm the exact terms in your contract, and ask your project contact directly if payment timing affects your cash flow.
Do I need a PhD to qualify for AfterQuery?
Only for specialist roles: ML research, atmospheric modeling, bioinformatics, COBOL, and audit accounting positions require verifiable credentials, usually a PhD, master's degree, or 5+ years of professional experience. AfterQuery's domain screeners check credentials before confirming an assignment, so listing a degree without the matching experience won't get you through. Generalist reviewer roles have a lower bar but come up less often.
What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?
For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.
How is my creative work used in AI training?
As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.
What does Languages work look like for a Bilingual Audio Contributor (Mandarin/English) | 中英双语专家审核员?
Tasks here are scoped to Languages, not generic labeling. As a Bilingual Audio Contributor (Mandarin/English) | 中英双语专家审核员, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Languages) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Languages background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
Data Annotation, Bilingual, Chinese, and English are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $30/hr, an hourly rate. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
Do I need to be fluent in Chinese, English, or Mandarin?
Yes. This role specifically requires Chinese, English, or Mandarin proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If Chinese is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.
What happens when I click Apply on this listing?
You'll be taken to Afterquery's external site to complete your application there. This listing links through a referral, but the process is identical to applying directly; the link just routes you correctly. Create an account on their site and follow their onboarding steps.
Can I apply from outside China?
This specific role is open only to people based in China. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply.
