From the Alignerr listing

What You'll Do

  • Listen to audio recordings and compare them against existing transcripts in Brazilian Portuguese
  • Identify and correct errors in transcription — including misspelled words, missing words, incorrect words, and punctuation issues
  • Ensure word-level accuracy and verify that timestamps and timing alignments are precise
  • Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently across all tasks
  • Flag sections with unclear audio, overlapping speakers, or other quality issues
  • Maintain high accuracy and consistency across large volumes of transcript data
  • Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule

About the Role

What if your sharp ears and precision with language could directly improve how AI understands spoken Portuguese? We're looking for detail-oriented Audio Transcript Editors to review, clean up, and correct machine-generated audio transcripts in Brazilian Portuguese — ensuring every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is exactly right. Germany — and Berlin in particular — has a substantial and growing Brazilian expat community. We're looking for native Brazilian Portuguese speakers based here who want to do meaningful, well-paid remote work that fits around their existing commitments. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just native-level Brazilian Portuguese, strong listening skills, and comfort following detailed style and formatting guidelines.

  • Able to follow detailed style guides and formatting rules with precision and consistency
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • Comfortable using web-based tools and audio playback interfaces

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
  • Background in subtitling, closed captioning, or subtitle editing
  • Linguistics training or a degree in language-related fields
  • Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training workflows
  • Experience with audio editing or quality assurance for media content

Common questions

How soon can I start earning on Alignerr after passing the assessment?

Not right away. After passing, you still complete identity verification through Persona and billing setup through Deel, then wait in a pool for weeks or months. You only start earning once a project matching your specific skills launches and assigns you. Don't count on Alignerr income until you're actively placed on a project.

Does Alignerr have a trainer community?

Yes, and it's a genuine strength. Once you're assigned to a project, you join Slack channels where you can get rubric clarifications from admins and talk to other trainers. That kind of support is rare in AI training and matters most when guidelines are ambiguous or shift mid-project.

Do creative AI training roles allow creative freedom?

Some, within limits. You're hired for your talent, but most projects still require following strict style guides, like keeping a neutral tone or matching a technical-manual style. Consistency across the dataset matters more than personal expression here.

What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?

For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.

What does Writing work look like for a Brazilian Portuguese Audio Transcript Editor — Remote (AI Training)?

Tasks here are scoped to Writing, not generic labeling. As a Brazilian Portuguese Audio Transcript Editor — Remote (AI Training), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Writing) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Writing background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

What specific skills does this listing call for?

Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.

How much does this specific role pay?

This listing is posted at $10–$35/hr, an hourly rate. The range reflects experience level and negotiated terms, not a placeholder, so where you land in it depends on your background and the assessment. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.

Do I need to be fluent in Brazilian Portuguese or Portuguese?

Yes. This role specifically requires Brazilian Portuguese or Portuguese proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If Brazilian Portuguese is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.

Do I need a Master's to qualify?

This role lists a master's degree as a requirement. In practice, the domain assessment is the real gate. If you can pass it, the degree is usually secondary. However, some platforms verify credentials formally, so list your actual qualifications accurately on your profile.

Can I apply from outside Germany, Brazil, or Portugal?

This specific role is open only to people based in Germany, Brazil, and Portugal. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply, since they can differ by country.

What is the barrier to entry for Alignerr?

A difficult, timed technical assessment in your specific domain, like Python, physics, or language. Passing it is required before you're eligible for any paid projects.
