About the Role

What if your perfect ear for French and obsession with precision could directly shape how AI understands spoken language? We're looking for meticulous French Audio Transcript Editors based in Casablanca and across Morocco to review, clean up, and correct audio transcripts — ensuring every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is exactly right. Morocco's strong francophone tradition and Casablanca's large, highly educated workforce make this region a compelling source of French language expertise. Your familiarity with both formal French and the diverse spoken registers common across North Africa gives you a distinctive edge on these projects. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just native-level or near-native French, strong listening skills, and a commitment to precision.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native French speaker with an excellent ear for spoken French across accents, registers, and speaking speeds — including North African and Maghrebi French varieties
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch the small errors others miss
  • Comfortable working with word-level accuracy and exact timing in transcripts
  • Able to follow detailed style guides and formatting rules with precision and consistency
  • Strong listening comprehension, even with challenging audio quality or overlapping speakers
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
  • No prior AI or tech experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
  • Background in subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or media localization
  • Training or experience in linguistics, phonetics, or language sciences
  • Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or transcript editing software
  • Familiarity with Moroccan French alongside other French-speaking regional accents and dialects
  • Experience in translation, proofreading, or editorial quality assurance

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, detail-rich work
  • Contribute to AI development that directly improves how technology processes spoken French
  • Sharpen your transcription and editorial skills on diverse, real-world audio content
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch

Common questions

How hard is the Alignerr assessment?

Hard, and unforgiving. Alignerr uses TestGorilla for timed, role-specific tests: a blank coding environment for engineers, strict grammar and fact-checking for writers. Treat it as one shot. Failing or abandoning it typically locks you out of that role permanently, with no retake.

How soon can I start earning on Alignerr after passing the assessment?

Not right away. After passing, you still complete identity verification through Persona and billing setup through Deel, then wait in a pool for weeks or months. You only start earning once a project matching your specific skills launches and assigns you. Don't count on Alignerr income until you're actively placed on a project.

How is my creative work used in AI training?

As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.

Do creative AI training roles allow creative freedom?

Some, within limits. You're hired for your talent, but most projects still require following strict style guides, like keeping a neutral tone or matching a technical-manual style. Consistency across the dataset matters more than personal expression here.

What does Writing work look like for a French Audio Transcript Editor (AI Training)?

Tasks here are scoped to Writing, not generic labeling. As a French Audio Transcript Editor (AI Training), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Writing) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Writing background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

What specific skills does this listing call for?

French is named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with this, expect the screening process to test for it directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.

How much does this specific role pay?

This listing is posted at $10–$35/hr, an hourly rate. The range reflects experience level and negotiated terms, not a placeholder, so where you land in it depends on your background and the assessment. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.

Do I need to be fluent in French?

Yes. This role specifically requires French proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If French is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.

Do I need a Master's to qualify?

This role lists a master's degree as a requirement. In practice, the domain assessment is the real gate. If you can pass it, the degree is usually secondary. However, some platforms verify credentials formally, so list your actual qualifications accurately on your profile.

Can I apply from outside Africa, MENA, Morocco and 1 other country?

This specific role is open only to people based in Africa, MENA, Morocco, and France. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply, since they can differ by country.

What is the barrier to entry for Alignerr?

A difficult, timed technical assessment in your specific domain, like Python, physics, or language. Passing it is required before you're eligible for any paid projects.
