What to Expect

Malay language evaluation tasks cover Standard Malay (Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Melayu) with attention to the variation between Malaysian and Indonesian usage—related but distinct standards with different vocabulary, spelling conventions, and stylistic norms. Tasks evaluate grammatical accuracy (Malay has relatively simple morphology but complex affix systems for word derivation), natural vocabulary selection, and appropriate formal versus colloquial register. Malaysian Malay tasks assess whether AI correctly uses Malaysian Standard vocabulary rather than Indonesian equivalents. Tasks also evaluate code-switching awareness in informal Malaysian contexts (Manglish features). Audio tasks involve recording in natural Malay speech. Native speaker or C2-level fluency with awareness of Malaysian versus Indonesian distinction is required.
