Is Meridial Legit? Meridial by Invisible Review: Pay, Onboarding & Verification
Meridial by Invisible, formerly the Invisible Expert Marketplace: whether it is legit, what its listings pay ($6 to $150/hr), and how to get through the English, ID and address checks on the first try.
Meridial is legit: it is the AI training marketplace run by Invisible Technologies, it posts hundreds of freelance projects at once, and it pays contractors every two weeks. The hard part is getting in. Applicants pass through skills tests, an English assessment, and ID and address checks, and a failed check often can't be redone.
You may know it by an older name. Meridial used to be the Invisible Expert Marketplace, its full name today is "Meridial Marketplace, by Invisible," and many workers still call it Invisible. Its site is meridial.ai, and the old address was marketplace.inv.tech.
Most complaints about Meridial come from applicants stuck before their first paid hour, and most of those stalls can be avoided with the right document or a quiet room on test day.
Meridial pays, but onboarding is where applicants get stuck
- Meridial belongs to Invisible Technologies and was called the Invisible Expert Marketplace until its rename.
- Most listings state $6 to $65 an hour, with the exact rate set by your experience, expertise and location.
- Upload proof of address that matches your profile exactly, because workers report the check can't be resubmitted after it fails.
- Take the English assessment rested and in a quiet room. Applicants report no retake option.
- Check the rate in each project invite before you sign, since that is the first place your personal rate appears.
Meridial is the expert marketplace run by Invisible Technologies
Invisible Technologies, founded in 2015, runs Meridial as the place where it recruits freelance experts for AI training projects. The work is the post-training kind: writing and answering prompts, evaluating and ranking model responses, improving chain-of-thought reasoning, red-teaming, and building reinforcement learning environments. Meridial says it operates under Invisible's SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR compliance.
Contractors sign a Statement of Work per project. Support is at help@meridial.ai.
Over nine in ten listings state $6 or $8 to $65 an hour. Your exact rate appears in the project invite.
Some project assessments are proctored with your camera, microphone and full screen shared.
Paid to the account in your profile. Workers report tracking hours in Hubstaff.
Meridial has the second-largest set of open roles we track, with 507 projects on September 26, 2026, all applied to through its Greenhouse job board. Nearly half are language roles (244), followed by software engineering (69), STEM (47), business (42) and voice work (32). About a third are open worldwide, a fifth are for US residents only, and the rest are tied to one country, most often the Philippines or India.
The application runs through six gates before any paid work
Meridial's FAQ describes three steps: browse projects, join, and complete your profile. Applicants describe a longer path, and each gate below has its own way of going wrong. Budget a few hours spread over several days.
Apply to a listing and build your profile
The Greenhouse form asks for your resume, education, country of residence and LinkedIn. Type your address the way it appears on your bank statement, since the address check later compares against it.
Take the initial skill verification
Start it only when you can finish it. Applicants who closed the tab midway report the test stuck at "in progress" with no way to restart.
Complete the English assessment
Your level gates which projects accept your application. It gets its own section below.
Pass the project assessment
Each project has its own test, sometimes an AI interview or recorded video answers. Proctored versions ask for camera, microphone and full screen sharing, so close other apps first. Some applicants report being sent an assessment for a different role than the one they applied to, so read the instructions before you begin.
Get compliant: ID and address
A photo ID with a face scan, then a proof-of-address document. This is where the most applicants report getting stuck.
Sign the Statement of Work and onboard
You get project chat access, often a company email address, and a Hubstaff login for time tracking. Some projects add paid training and practice tasks before production work starts.
If your skills test turns out to be the critical thinking, word logic and abstract reasoning format, our Invisible logic assessment walkthrough covers each question type.
Get the ID and address checks right on the first upload
The address check is the step applicants most often describe as a dead end. When it fails, the portal usually offers no resubmit button, and people report waiting from two weeks to two months for a manual fix.
| What failed for other applicants | What to do instead |
|---|---|
| An ID card used as proof of address | Upload a recent bank statement or utility bill in your name |
| An ID showing a previous address | Use a document with your current address, matching your profile |
| An incomplete address in the profile, which could not be edited later | Check every address field before you reach the compliance step |
| A document in a language other than English | If your bank offers an English statement, download that one. One applicant's English bank statement was accepted after an ID card was rejected. |
| Blurry or cropped ID captures that failed repeatedly | Use the original document, flat on a dark surface, in daylight, with all four corners visible |
If a check fails, keep one support ticket open and add to it. Support runs through an AI chat that opens tickets, and several applicants report tickets closing automatically. Reopen the same ticket with a screenshot of the failed step and the document you want to upload, and email help@meridial.ai with the ticket number. The portal says manual address reviews take about two business days, and you can't start an invited project until yours clears.
The English assessment decides which projects you can join
Meridial grades your English on a level scale, and projects can refuse applications below their required level. Applicants report the test runs through Hallo, and that language specialists take it too, even when the role is for their native language. One applicant who scored B1 after rushing the test found every project application refused, with no retake option in the portal.
Treat it like the one attempt it appears to be. Use a headset with a microphone, sit in a quiet room, block out time when you won't be interrupted, and answer in full sentences at a normal pace.
Listings show $6 to $65 an hour, and your location sets your rate
Of the 489 Meridial listings that state pay, 441 give a range of $6 or $8 to $65 an hour. The listing text says the exact rate depends on "your experience, expertise, and geographic location," and that final offers may fall outside the range. Your personal rate first appears in the project invite, before you sign the Statement of Work.
| Listing type | Stated range | Listings |
|---|---|---|
| Standard project listings (language, STEM, healthcare, finance and more) | $6–$65/hr or $8–$65/hr | 441 |
| Business owners and managers | $20–$100/hr | 2 |
| Medical doctors (US) | $40–$120/hr | 1 |
| Software engineering infrastructure specialists | $80–$150/hr | 2 |
From the Meridial listings in our dataset, September 26, 2026. The remaining priced listings use narrower project-specific ranges.
The offers workers describe sit well below the $65 top of the range. A US generalist reports that their lowest offer was $20 an hour. One post compares about $6 an hour for workers in Africa with about $20 in Europe or Canada on the same project, and an experienced reviewer describes turning down direct invites at $9 and $11. Treat the listed range as the platform-wide spread and decide from the number in your invite, which you are free to decline.
Payment runs every two weeks to the account in your profile. The same US worker reports that time spent reading guidelines, watching recorded calls and attending training counted as paid time in Hubstaff, and one applicant was paid for an onboarding assessment on an expert project.
What "under review" and "Selected" mean on Meridial
Meridial matches people to projects as clients need them, so every status can sit unchanged for weeks. Its FAQ says only that it will reach out "if there's a match."
| What you see | What applicants report | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Under review | It can last weeks, and some applications disappear from the list without a decision | Keep applying to other projects that fit you |
| Requirement met | The portal says you are on the project roster or were considered before, and invites follow when the project needs people | Finish your ID and address checks now so an invite doesn't wait on them |
| Selected, but no invite visible | The "View invite" button can open an empty tab for a while | Check your email and the invites tab again over the next few days |
| SOW signed, no instructions | Projects can start late or be put on hold after signing | Watch the project chat channel, and ask support for a start date after a week |
| Test marked failed or stuck "in progress" | There is usually no retake button | Open one ticket with a screenshot and apply to projects that use a different test |
One US applicant heard nothing for about two months after joining, then received an eligibility survey, a short assessment and a project invite in the space of a few days, and was on six projects three weeks later.
Worker reviews are mostly negative and center on onboarding
Meridial's organic Trustpilot reviews average 1.18 stars, and 26 of the 29 posted in the 12 months to September 25, 2026 give one star. Almost none of its reviews come from company invitations, so its TrustScore of 1.6 is close to what unprompted reviewers say. Our study of 4,555 Trustpilot reviews explains why that makes it hard to compare with platforms that invite most of their reviewers.
We also read the 223 Reddit posts about Meridial from the same period. The same themes come up again and again: multi-stage onboarding with camera-on assessments, English, ID and address checks that can't be redone, applications that stall at "under review," support tickets that close without a human reply, and pay that differs by country.
People who get through onboarding describe paid, steady project work. The most-upvoted first-hand account, posted in r/WFHJobs, comes from a US generalist who expected a scam, joined six projects in three weeks, and was paid every two weeks without issues. Reviews on both sites come mostly from people still applying, so they describe the entry process far more often than the work itself.
Meridial suits patient applicants who read every offer

Frequently asked questions
Is Meridial legit? ▼
Yes, Meridial is a real marketplace run by Invisible Technologies, and it pays contractors every two weeks. Workers do report slow onboarding, verification steps that fail without a way to resubmit, and support tickets that close automatically, which is why its Trustpilot score is low. Those are onboarding problems, and paid workers on Reddit report receiving their pay.
Is Meridial the same as Invisible Technologies? ▼
Meridial is Invisible Technologies' expert marketplace, formerly called the Invisible Expert Marketplace. Its full name is "Meridial Marketplace, by Invisible," it lives at meridial.ai, and the older address was marketplace.inv.tech. Meridial's own FAQ says contractors are not employees of Meridial or Invisible Technologies.
How long does Meridial take to review an application? ▼
Meridial publishes no review timeline, and worker reports range from one day to several months. Its FAQ says it reaches out only when your profile matches a current project. One applicant heard nothing for about two months, then went from an eligibility survey to a project invite within days.
Can I retake the Meridial English assessment? ▼
Applicants report that the English assessment has no retake option. People who scored B1 report being blocked from projects that ask for a higher level. Take it once, in a quiet room, with a headset and without time pressure.
Why did my Meridial address verification fail, and can I redo it? ▼
Reported address failures involve a document whose address differs from the profile, an ID card used as proof of address, or an incomplete profile address, and the portal usually has no resubmit button afterward. Open a support ticket, attach a recent bank statement or utility bill in your name showing the same address, and reply on that ticket if it closes automatically. Support is reachable at help@meridial.ai.
How much does Meridial pay, and does it depend on my country? ▼
Most Meridial listings state $6 to $65 an hour, and the listing text says the exact rate depends on experience, expertise and geographic location. Software infrastructure roles list up to $150 an hour. Workers on Reddit describe offers from about $6 an hour in lower-cost countries to $20 and up in the US and Europe for similar work.
When and how does Meridial pay? ▼
Meridial pays every two weeks, to the account details in your profile. Workers report tracking time in Hubstaff, and one US worker reports that reading guidelines and attending training calls counted as paid time.
Am I an employee of Meridial? ▼
No, you work as an independent contractor under a Statement of Work for each project. Listings state that contractors supply their own computer and internet and receive no health insurance or paid time off.
