Its Trustpilot score was 4.6 at our last check, with only 3% of reviews unprompted; in our September study, those unprompted reviews averaged 3.3 out of 5. The complaints that recur are about the difficulty of the interview and the wait for a placement afterward, not about pay.

You pass one AI interview, then wait in a vetted pool
Micro1 screens you once, certifies you, and then shows your profile to clients as a pre-screened candidate. Clients often skip their own first-round interview because of that.
Apply to a role
You upload your resume and, for many roles, answer two written questions. The role you apply for sets what Zara asks about.
Take the Zara interview
The session runs 20 to 30 minutes with camera and screen share on. Engineers get a split screen with a code editor; design and research roles get a labeled set of focus areas instead. Many applicants are offered a practice run in the same interface first.
Ava scores the session for integrity
A second system tracks gaze, tab focus and browser extensions during technical interviews. That score is separate from your answers, and a low one fails the interview on its own.
Get certified, then wait for a match
A pass puts your profile in the vetted talent pool and sends a certificate within a day or two. A hiring manager then reviews the pool, which Micro1 says can take up to 30 days. You can apply to other Micro1 roles in the meantime.

Zara runs the interview and Ava watches for cheating
Two systems run during a Micro1 interview, and most failures come from one of them.
Zara asks the questions and builds follow-ups from your answers. Mention a technology and the next question is about how you used it under load. Zara also moves on when it hears a long pause or a finished sentence, so name only the tools you can discuss in depth, and if you need a moment, say so rather than reading the question back aloud.
Ava is the proctoring layer on technical interviews. It records eyes moving to a second monitor, tab switches and AI coding extensions, and it produces an Integrity Score separate from your technical score. Micro1's documentation puts the pass mark at 70%. Disable browser extensions before you start and use one monitor.

Micro1 listings pay a median of $70 an hour
Across the 393 Micro1 listings we track, the median listed rate is $70 an hour, and the middle half of listings pay between $35 and $115. Language and generalist roles sit near the bottom of that range. Legal and healthcare roles sit at the top.
