  • Adjust and verify exact timing and alignment of transcript segments
  • Follow detailed style and formatting guidelines with precision and consistency

  • Maintain high accuracy and quality standards across large volumes of transcription tasks

About the Role

Buenos Aires has one of the largest Italian-heritage communities in the world — and if you grew up speaking Italian at home or have developed native-level fluency, your skills are exactly what we need. We're looking for Italian Audio Transcript Editors in the Buenos Aires area to clean up, correct, and perfect audio transcripts — making the word-level corrections that teach AI systems to understand spoken Italian with real accuracy. You'll listen carefully, compare what you hear against existing transcripts, and apply detailed guidelines to ensure every phrase, timestamp, and punctuation mark is right. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just native-level Italian, strong listening skills, and the discipline to follow detailed guidelines with consistency.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native fluency in Italian — you catch nuances, dialects, and colloquialisms that others miss
  • Excellent listening skills with the patience to replay and verify difficult audio passages
  • Extremely detail-oriented — you care about getting every word, space, and timestamp right
  • Comfortable following structured, detailed formatting and style guidelines
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently through repetitive, precision-focused tasks
  • Proficient with computer-based tools and comfortable navigating web-based platforms

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
  • Background in subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or audio post-production
  • Training or experience in linguistics, phonetics, or language annotation
  • Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training workflows
  • Familiarity with Italian regional dialects and italo-rioplatense speech influences
  • Experience in translation, localization, or editorial work in Italian or Spanish

Common questions

Does Alignerr have a trainer community?

Yes, and it's a genuine strength. Once you're assigned to a project, you join Slack channels where you can get rubric clarifications from admins and talk to other trainers. That kind of support is rare in AI training and matters most when guidelines are ambiguous or shift mid-project.

How hard is the Alignerr assessment?

Hard, and unforgiving. Alignerr uses TestGorilla for timed, role-specific tests: a blank coding environment for engineers, strict grammar and fact-checking for writers. Treat it as one shot. Failing or abandoning it typically locks you out of that role permanently, with no retake.

What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?

For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.

How is my creative work used in AI training?

As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.

What does Writing work look like for an Italian Audio Transcript Editor – Remote (Buenos Aires)?

Tasks here are scoped to Writing, not generic labeling. As an Italian Audio Transcript Editor – Remote (Buenos Aires), expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Writing) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Writing background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.

What specific skills does this listing call for?

Italian and Spanish are named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with these, expect the screening process to test for them directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.

How much does this specific role pay?

This listing is posted at $10–$35/hr, an hourly rate. The range reflects experience level and negotiated terms, not a placeholder, so where you land in it depends on your background and the assessment. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.

Do I need to be fluent in Italian or Spanish?

Yes. This role specifically requires Italian or Spanish proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If Italian is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.

Do I need a Master's to qualify?

This role lists a master's degree as a requirement. In practice, the domain assessment is the real gate. If you can pass it, the degree is usually secondary. However, some platforms verify credentials formally, so list your actual qualifications accurately on your profile.

Can I apply from outside Italy?

This specific role is open only to people based in Italy. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply.

What is the barrier to entry for Alignerr?

A difficult, timed technical assessment in your specific domain, like Python, physics, or language. Passing it is required before you're eligible for any paid projects.
