About the Role
Switzerland's Italian-speaking community has a rare and valuable combination — a deep command of Italian alongside a culture of precision and rigour. We're looking for Italian Audio Transcript Editors based in Switzerland to clean up, correct, and perfect audio transcripts that teach AI systems to understand spoken Italian with real accuracy. This is hands-on, focused work at the intersection of language, audio, and AI. You'll listen carefully, compare what you hear against existing transcripts, and make word-level corrections that matter. If you take pride in getting every syllable right, this role was made for you. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just native-level Italian, strong listening skills, and the discipline to follow detailed guidelines with consistency.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Who You Are
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian — you catch nuances, dialects, and colloquialisms that others miss
- Excellent listening skills with the patience to replay and verify difficult audio passages
- Extremely detail-oriented — you care about getting every word, space, and timestamp right
- Comfortable following structured, detailed formatting and style guidelines
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently through repetitive, precision-focused tasks
- Proficient with computer-based tools and comfortable navigating web-based platforms
Nice to Have
- Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
- Background in subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or audio post-production
- Training or experience in linguistics, phonetics, or language annotation
- Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or AI training workflows
- Familiarity with Italian regional dialects and Ticinese speech patterns
- Experience in translation, localization, or editorial work across Swiss or Italian markets

Common questions
Does Alignerr have a trainer community?
Yes, and it's a genuine strength. Once you're assigned to a project, you join Slack channels where you can get rubric clarifications from admins and talk to other trainers. That kind of support is rare in AI training and matters most when guidelines are ambiguous or shift mid-project.
How hard is the Alignerr assessment?
Hard, and unforgiving. Alignerr uses TestGorilla for timed, role-specific tests: a blank coding environment for engineers, strict grammar and fact-checking for writers. Treat it as one shot. Failing or abandoning it typically locks you out of that role permanently, with no retake.
What equipment do I need for creative AI training roles?
For voice or audio roles at this pay level, a professional home studio setup (XLR microphone, acoustically treated room) is typically required. Phone recordings and laptop mics usually get rejected by quality control.
How is my creative work used in AI training?
As ground-truth data: for writers, that means creative generation samples; for voice actors, it often means training text-to-speech models. Check the specific contract details on rights usage for your voice or likeness before signing.
What does Writing work look like for an Italian Audio Transcript Editor – Remote Contract?
Tasks here are scoped to Writing, not generic labeling. As an Italian Audio Transcript Editor – Remote Contract, expect to draw on real domain judgment (evaluating outputs, correcting errors, or providing expert reasoning specific to Writing) rather than following a one-size-fits-all rubric. If you don't have hands-on Writing background, this is likely not the right listing to start with.
What specific skills does this listing call for?
Italian is named directly in the listing. If you don't have hands-on experience with this, expect the screening process to test for it directly rather than accepting adjacent experience as a substitute.
How much does this specific role pay?
This listing is posted at $10–$35/hr, an hourly rate. The range reflects experience level and negotiated terms, not a placeholder, so where you land in it depends on your background and the assessment. Pay can change between when we last checked the listing and when you apply, so confirm the current number on the platform's own application page before committing time.
Do I need to be fluent in Italian?
Yes. This role specifically requires Italian proficiency, on top of the English most AI training work assumes by default. If Italian is not a language you're fluent in, this is not the right role. Filter for your native language to find better-matched listings.
Do I need a Master's to qualify?
This role lists a master's degree as a requirement. In practice, the domain assessment is the real gate. If you can pass it, the degree is usually secondary. However, some platforms verify credentials formally, so list your actual qualifications accurately on your profile.
Can I apply from outside Italy?
This specific role is open only to people based in Italy. If you are somewhere else, applying is unlikely to lead to an offer even if you pass the assessment, because the restriction is usually about where the work can legally be contracted rather than your skills. Read the full description for any tax-residency or right-to-work caveats before you apply.
What is the barrier to entry for Alignerr?
A difficult, timed technical assessment in your specific domain, like Python, physics, or language. Passing it is required before you're eligible for any paid projects.
