Sell to AI labs · Closed company

Your old company's Slack and GitHub may still be worth something

When a company closes, its workspace usually sits in a forgotten admin account until someone stops paying for it. AI labs now buy that record: the repos, the tickets, the chat and email, the design docs, the finance and support history, all together. Several buyers want it, and this page routes you to them.

Why closed companies are the strongest supply

The record is complete and nobody needs it any more. A live company sells a slice of its data and keeps working. A closed company can sell the whole history: every commit, every ticket, every Slack thread about why a decision was made, every support conversation, the finance and the sales pipeline. That is what labs mean by "how real work gets done", and it is rare.

Buyers say so themselves. Turing's Project Lazarus names "operating and winding-down companies". Mercor's intake asks whether the company is "Live or Insolvent" and says peak headcount matters as much as today's. DataVendor lists "startup founders closing companies" among the sellers it wants. Troveo takes startups shutting down and companies licensing retired products.

What they pay for

  • Code with its context: repos, pull requests, design docs, test logs, infrastructure manifests, wikis.
  • Communications: Slack or Teams, email, meeting notes.
  • Operations: tickets, CRM, support conversations, sales pipeline, finance, legal and ops records.
  • Scale: years of history and the number of people who produced it. A 40-person company that ran for five years is a very different asset from a two-founder prototype.

On figures: Turing's page says up to $1M in a single payment. Troveo publishes a revenue share on each resale. DataVendor says sellers keep 80% of a sale. Mercor pays on volume, tools connected and depth. We do not add numbers of our own.

Who buys, and how each one works

Turing, Project Lazarus

Buys the full operating record in one purchase. Intake call within a business day under NDA, sampling within a week, then an offer. Introductions go by form, so on the register page you can tick a box allowing us to pass on your name, email and company. Or go direct.

DataVendor

Marketplace listing for the codebase, datasets and tasksets, mostly non-exclusive. By invite: register here and we email it after a quick look. You list and negotiate there directly.

Troveo

Licenses chat, email, CRM, finance and code to several buyers on a revenue share. Companies from about 100 employees. Direct link, we are not involved.

Mercor

Connects the old tools read-only, anonymises and pays on volume and depth. Takes insolvent companies explicitly. Direct link, we are not involved.

Before you register

  • Confirm you have the right to sell. Check with whoever handled the dissolution. Co-founders and investors may have a say.
  • Check the accounts still exist. Slack, Google Workspace and GitHub organisations get deleted after non-payment. If they are alive, keep them alive until a buyer has sampled.
  • Know the rough numbers: years active, peak headcount, which tools held the work. These are the questions on the form.
  • Do not export or send anything to us. We never take files. The buyer tells you how they want to sample.

Questions founders ask

My startup shut down two years ago. Is the data still worth anything?

Often more than it was while the company ran. A complete, frozen record of how a team built and operated a product is exactly what labs train on, and nobody is still using it. Buyers ask about peak headcount, not just the headcount at the end.

Who owns the assets of a dissolved company?

It depends on the jurisdiction and how the company was wound up. If assets were distributed to shareholders, they may be yours. If the company went through an administrator or liquidator, ask them. Check with whoever handled the dissolution before you list anything.

What about customer and employee personal data in Slack and email?

Every buyer here removes personal data before anything reaches a lab, and they treat that as their job. It does not make the legal side simple: GDPR still applies to EU companies after dissolution. Tell the buyer up front what the record contains.

Do I have to hand over everything?

No. Buyers scope what they want. Turing says it approves the scope with you under NDA before sampling. Mercor connects tools one by one with read-only access. You decide what is in.

Can aitrainer.work sell it for me?

No. We route you to the buyers and, for Turing, pass on your name, email and company if you ask us to. The buyer prices and pays you directly. We never see the data.

Register once, get routed to every buyer that fits

You tell us who you are and what you own. We show you the buyers that take it, with a plain line on what to expect from each, and email you once if a new program appears later. We never see, hold or transfer the data itself.
